What is the difference between the Ice-Barker™ and Sub-Woofer™? Is one better than the other? It’s not so much a question of whether one jacket is better than the other, but what is better for your dog or situation. The key difference between these two jackets is the fabric – one is a soft, natural fabric (Ice-Barker™); the other (Sub-Woofer™) is a performance, laminated synthetic. Both fabrics have good functionality, but in different ways. For a dog that is super active, outside a lot, with a tendency to puddle in water, and is moving about, the Sub-Woofer™ is the better choice. This is also great for really extreme conditions of wind and rain. For a dog that is older, maybe less active and you want a jacket for wearing at night, on shorter walks, or for an older or sick dog, the natural fibre of the Ice-Barker™ is lovely.
SUB-WOOFER
Sub-Woofer™ dog jackets are a high performance technical jacket that offers high levels of insulation, water and wind protection and breathability.
There’s more to the sub-woofer™ than just warmth. Sub-woofer™ is about comfort, freedom of movement, protection and visibility.
Regulating body temperature is a key part of staying comfortable and making the most of work and play, and this applies to dogs too. The key to the sub-woofer™ jacket is the Hydrotex™ fabric and the panelled design that maximises movement while keeping key joints and organs warm and protected.
Hydrotex™ fabric is smarter and harder working than a Border Collie. It ‘breathes’ to let moist, clammy air out, is wind and waterproof to insulate against cold air and moisture, and is lightweight with a two-way stretch for a better fit. However, unlike a Border Collie, it is machine washable and dries quickly.

The Ice-Barker™ jacket is made from 100% natural, merino wool and offers high levels of warmth and breathability with the additional, unique benefits of merino fiber.
New Zealand Merino is one of nature’s greatest gifts. The merino sheep is like the love puppy of a Pyrenean mountain dog and a Basenji. Grown at high altitude, the merino fibre is softer and lighter than traditional wools and, when knitted together, the fibers lock in heat when it’s cold and breathe when it gets warm.
Merino wool is low irritant and has natural odour suppressing qualities that are the stuff that legends are made of. Adventurers are rumoured to have worn the same merino jumpers on expeditions for months straight without them getting smelly. Merino is always toasty, seldom stinky.

For wet dogs e.g. after swimming or retrieving ducks. The merino will be warm even if it is damp. Let the dog shake of water then layer on the jacket.

Some dogs, like some people, are tough on gear. Soft, high-tech fabrics are no match for their penchant for running against speargrass and rubbing on scratchy stuff.
The Arma-Doggo (little armored D-fa) takes us back to basics with a durable outer nylon shell and fleece inner layer. It’s the most hard-wearing D-FA design yet.
Armadillos have poor vision and no protection under their tummies, so we’ve improved on nature in the Arma-Doggo by including Schoeller Dynatec fabric in the jacket to improve visibility, and extended the outer shell of the jacket under the belly for protection from the elements.
For dogs exercising in cool or wet conditions who are tough on gear and prefer something a little tougher to match.

Real dogs aren’t afraid of the dark, but the reality is that it’s one of the most dangerous times for any dog to be out and about, and most winter nights involve walking and other manoeuvres under the cover of darkness.
